In Real Life vs PRETTYMUCH

After the success of One Direction, the US is now ready to re-claim the best boy band title. In the past, the US has hit the ball out the park when it comes to boy band world domination with names such as New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. However when One Direction came along, there were basically no other boy bands worth talking about until the guys decided to focus on their solo projects.

Now there are two bands from the US who are ready to take the boy band thrown.

In Real Life
The US network ABC decided to bring three well known music industry professionals together to search for five members to form a new boy band. Music producer Timbaland, Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) were chosen for this task and over ten weeks gave support and feedback to all the boys until the final five were chosen (Brady Tutton 15, Chance Perez 19, Drew Ramos 19, Sergio Calderon 17 and Michael Conor 18).

The group are called In Real Life and their first single 'Eyes Closed' has nearly 2 million streams on Spotify. They are currently performing around the US and growing their fan base but we feel the guys have what it takes to go international.

They have already mentioned a new single and video coming soon as well as plans for a Christmas song.

PRETTYMUCH

PRETTYMUCH are Brandon Arreaga 17, Edwin Honoret 18, Zion Kuwonu 18, Nick Mara 19 and Austin Porter 20. The guys were all solo singers until Simon Cowell put them together in a group and signed them to his label Syco Music. With the same manager and label as One Direction, many people weren't sure whether they would be able to handle the pressure but as soon as they released their first single 'Would You Mind', it was clear that these guys mean business.

The single has already had nearly 8 million streams on Spotify.

Their new single 'Teacher' has nearly 2 million streams on Spotify.

The only question now is which group will be the first to have international success and will they experience the same success as One Direction?
